COVID CABIN

The Covid Cabin is an academic project designed to fit all the needs of a getaway area to suit all needs of a student during the remote learning phase of Covid-19, within a 10 square meter total floor area.

Located in a residential zone in Kitchener Ontario, the cabin is constructed on a semi permanent foundation using light-wood framing construction. These components are standard to southwestern Ontario. The cabin exterior was finished with a pressure treated wooden cladding to achieve a rustic yet modern fusion of a design aesthetic. The cabin is orientated with its front façade facing the north, so that the slope of the roof allows for maximized natural light through it's sunroof early in the day. The lofted design allows for a separation between productivity and relaxation.
